Next week, Christmas officially begins in Sheffield with the opening of the Sheffield Christmas Market, festive bars, the Grotto and the Big Wheel.

The Christmas Market opens to the public on 15 November. Consisting of 50 traders located on Fargate, Pinstone Street and the Peace Gardens, the markets will be open from 10:00 – 18:00 Sunday to Thursday and until 20:00 Friday and Saturday.

Richard Pilgrim, Project Manager at Sheffield BID said: “Everything in Sheffield is gearing up for the launch of a raft of Christmas events and activities over the coming weeks.

In terms of the Sheffield Christmas Trail, it’s an activity that we look after, that is truly family-friendly. This year’s city centre trail will involve helping our very own Brearley Bear to track down his friends.”

The Alpine Bar and the new double-decked Alpine Lodge will be open as of 15 November 10:00 – 22:00.

Santa’s Grotto will be open to visitors from 15 November until 24 December. Located at the Edge of the Peace Gardens, you will be able to visit Santa and his elves 10:00-18:00 on a weekday, 10:00-19:00 on Saturdays and 11:00-18:00 on Sundays.

Sheffield’s Christmas Light Switch On will be taking place across the city on 21 November. The illuminations will take place at 17:00 and the Special Guest to ‘make Sheffield sparkle’ will be announced nearer the time.
